The Horsewomen of the Apocolypse
2020 is filled with chaos and fraught with disturbing events. Here is a feminine version of the Horsemen inspired by the covid 19 pandemic and the civil unrest circulating through United States.
"Pestilence" - I've been playing around with the idea with doing they four horsemen of the apocalypse, but with female characters. Now with the covid-19 pandemic and the wildly different approaches on dealing with it, it seemed an appropriate time to paint something like this. I am a staunch supporter of wearing face masks, social distancing and self isolation. I am continually flabbergasted and appalled when I see people not even attempting any self mitigating behaviors.
"War" - She doesn't care what side you're on, what your story is, what your politics are. She just wants to see it all burn. Pestilence turned out so well, that I thought I would try and do the other horsemen, er...horsewomen. War is fueled by hate and ignorance and intolerance and she has had a lot of fuel to burn lately.
"Famine" - In the age of covid-19, our store shelves are bare, our food production faces shut down, and our public cry out because they can't go to their favorite restaurants. "We are starving" says the people who are increasingly suffering from obesity. Yet, my cupboards are full, I can go get a burger or have food delivered to my door. But what of the children, ripped from their families, sleeping on cement floors, in cages? Are they hungry?
"Death" - The best dessert to be served up in decades, Death finds the coronavirus to be delicious! It's a never ending buffet and she's sure to gain the quarantine 15 (or 15,000). Pestilence has been such a giver this year. Could it be that this will be the gift that keeps on giving?
